Soccer is the most popular sport in the world. Soccer wagering includes betting on spreads, straight bets, parlay bets, teaser bets and much more. To be successful at soccer betting, it is essential to first understand the basic fundamentals of how the game is played:
Soccer is played by two opposing teams, each with eleven players. A soccer game is played in two 45-minute halves, with extra or “stoppage” time added due to any delays. When the ball crosses the longitudinal boundary of the playing field, a “throw-in” is awarded. A “corner-kick” is awarded when an opposing player forces the ball over the latitudinal boundary of the playing field. Free kicks are awarded if a player touches the ball with any part of their hand or arm (the goalkeeper being excluded), or deliberately kicks or interferes with an opposing player. If a player is awarded a free-kick from within the penalty area, the team of the infringed player is awarded a “penalty-kick”. Under this soccer rule, the goalkeeper is not allowed to move off the goal-line before the ball is kicked, and a goalkeeper is also not allowed to move prior to the penalty kick being taken. |

| General Rules/Betting Guidelines |
- Most sportsbooks use the money line with the draw method for soccer betting. This is the most common soccer wagering method for the regular soccer season. In some World Cup soccer betting, draws are not allowed. In the draw method, the soccer bettor has three choices:
1. Team A to win
2. Team B to win
3. Draw game.
The wager is a loss if the wager is on a team to win and outcome of the match at the end of 90 minutes is a draw. The wager is a loss if the wager is on the draw and either team wins at the end of 90 minutes.
- Wagering on game totals (over/under) only includes goals scored in the first 90 minutes.
- Wagers on the outcome of a soccer match are decided in regulation time only. This includes two halves of play and any time the referee compensates for injuries and other stoppages. It does not include periods of extra time or penalty shootouts.
- If a match is suspended before full time is reached and not completed the same day, wagers on the outcome of the match are void and all stakes are returned.
- Total Goals: When wagering on game totals (over/under), only goals scored in regulation time (90 minutes plus injury time and stoppage time) are considered. Periods of extra time or penalty shootouts are excluded.
- Soccer games do not have to go a full 90 minutes of regulation play to be action.
