General Rules/Betting Guidelines
  • For betting purposes, unless otherwise stipulated, games are official after 55 minutes of play. Teams must play for there to be action, all wagers included, all leagues included

  • Moneyline Wagers: Moneyline wagering is betting on a game based upon a given price rather than a point (or goal) spread. The team wagered on must win the game for the bettor to win the bet. The oddsmaker lists the favorite team as a minus (-) and the underdog as a plus (+).

Example: The oddsmaker lists the Detroit Red Wings –155 at the Los Angeles Kings +135. If the bettor wagers $155 on the Red Wings at –155 and the Red Wings win the game, then the bettor wins a net $100. If the bettor wagers $100 on the Kings at +135 and the Kings win the game, then the bettor wins a net $135.
  • Puck Line Wagers: A Puck Line wager involves a “goal spread” (similar to a pointspread in football), whereby the oddsmaker establishes one team as a favorite minus goals against another team plus goals. This means that the team wagered on must “cover the goal spread”, either winning the game outright or not losing by a predetermined number of goals.

Example: The oddsmaker lists the Detroit Red Wings –1 1/2 +130 at the Los Angeles Kings +1 1/2 -150. In this example, if the bettor wagers $100 on the Red Wings –1 1/2 goals and the Red Wings win by two or more goals, the bettor wins $130. If the bettor wagers $150 on the Kings +1 1/2 goals and the Kings either win the game or lose by less than two goals, then the bettor wins $100.
  • Total (over/under) Wagers: The bettor may wager that the total score of the hockey game will be more or less than the oddsmaker’s listed total. Simply add the final scores of each team. For betting purposes, total goals include overtime and/or shootouts.

Example: The oddsmaker lists the total goals at 5 1/2 Under –125 Over +105. If the bettor wagers $125 on Under 5 1/2 goals and the total goals scored are less than 6, then the bettor wins $100. If the bettor wagers $100 on Over 5 1/2 goals the total goals scored are more than five goals, then the bettor wins $105.
  • Hockey Parlays: The bettor may combine more than one team into a single wager, or a parlay. All teams must win to win the bet. Hockey parlay payouts are calculated based upon the money line, applying the payout of the first game, then applying that amount to the next game, etc.
