Giants Jets Betting Preview - Opening The New Meadowlands
By Craig Macleish - San Jose, Costa Rica

Perhaps it is fitting that the new state of the art stadium in the Meadowlands, which will house a Super Bowl, is opening the right way. Though they do not meet in the regular season, the stadium’s two tenants, the Giants and Jets, will open the stadium together in the preseason. As fitting as that is, there is a task at hand, as the teams both kick off the NFL preseason. There are questions to be answered on both side

NFL Betting: New York Giants @ New York Jets

Why To Bet On The Giants

While the Jets made it to the AFC Title Game last year, the Giants had a disappointing season. Only two seasons removed from winning the Super Bowl, the Giants underachieved, missing the playoffs. While Eli Manning is set as the starter, Jim Sorgi is one to keep an eye on. Long Peyton Manning’s backup, Sorgi will look to solidify the role with the Giants as well. While Manning received all of the accolades, Sorgi was always a true preseason star, sad as that may seem. Running back D.J Ware is another to watch out for, as the Giants want to gain a fair opinion on him before making their decision. The last thing they want is another Ryan Grant, and the Giants once had high hopes for Ware. The Giants also signed veteran linebacker Keith Bulluck, and he will have to become acclimated to the scheme of the team right away.

Why To Bet on the Jets

The Jets may not have a lot to prove in the preseason, having advanced to the AFC Championship Game last season. However, Rex Ryan is the ultimate motivator. If anyone can get their team up for a meaningless game, it is him, especially opening the new stadium against the shared tenant. For the Jets, the story is about the new faces in the new place. Santonio Holmes will miss the first few games of the regular season, so expect him to get a few more reps than usual. LaDanian Tomlinson, Jason Taylor, Antonio Cromartie and others will also make their Jets debuts. It will be simply interesting to see how this team, considered by many to be a Super Bowl favorite, looks on the field.

How the Game Will Play Out

The New York/New Jersey fans will surely be excited with the two teams that are opening the new digs. As far as the game, the Jets may be the overall better squad, but the Giants have more to play for. The Jets are loaded at the top, but do not have much at the bottom. expect Jim Sorgi, the preseason legend, to be able to lead the Giants to the victory. Giants take this one, though by a narrow margin.
